“Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms 27:13-14 NLT

For years, I have been waiting on what comes next. In the meantime, I've been stagnate in my faith. I've had an opportunity to study, learn, cultivate, and grow in areas that I have neglected. Just because I don't know what comes next doesn't necessarily mean it's time for a break. I am at my worst when I am complacent. There's nothing really wrong, but I'm not really trying to move forward. I'm satisfied being in the middle of the road. Have you ever been in this place?
Then the storm hits and I am ill prepared to survive it. Faith begins to stir and I find myself in pain, but growing, forced to stay the same, move forward, or God forbid, get worse while waiting on the Lord to do with me what He wants. Waiting is hard because the outcome is unknown. We know what we expect God to do but will He? Sometimes He does and sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes I still get in the way and prolong the process when I get ahead of Him or try to help Him along. While waiting, I am not instructed to wait silently or without purpose. I am simply told to wait patiently, still tending to my relationship with the Lord. Still studying, still preparing, still seeking, being still and knowing that He is God even in the waiting. I sometimes tend to look at the scriptures and forget that what I see are only snippets of a man or woman's life. I see the story unfold in just a few chapters rather than the way it unfolded over a number of years. I can't seem to fill in the time between the moves of God with anything other than what God did next. It all looks like it takes place over short period of time, but actually it took place for them, just like it takes place for me... over a lifetime of experiences that plays out minute by minute, hour by hour, and day by day. God help me wait fruitfully and not lazily.
