GOD LOVES ALL OF ME

“When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
Romans 5:6-8 NLT

What better way to start the day than realizing that God loves me in the midst of my shortcomings, my falling, my absent mindedness, and my inability to find Him without Him looking to find me first. He is so good when I am so bad. As righteous as I may try to be, there is still a battle that rages inside my spirit for control. It's difficult when I still fight to make sure I always do the right thing. I know I will never be perfect, but still, I strive to be. This performance-based version of me is still a part of my make-up, and God loves this part of me as much as He loves all the other broken parts. My actions to try to always do right may never change, and I'm okay with that. After all, I want to “.....be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48). My heart is the issue. My perfection doesn't come from the action of doing the right thing, but the heart that drives the action. If I do the right things out of fear of punishment, I've missed the whole point.
