PARDON ME, I'M BUSY

“When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all.” Luke 17:26-27

This is a gut punch. My life is the epitome of busyness and time consumption. For too long it has centered around building and acquiring, feasting and striving. It has been a race to get kids here and there for whatever sport or function requires them or me to be at. My life has been centered around everything else and my relationship with the Lord has been added in as needed or required by my beliefs. Priorities are juggled and everything looks like it’s getting done, but the aftermath takes a toll and I find myself wanting. Imagine, with all that I have blessed myself with, why would I feel in want of anything? You read it right, I said “all I have blessed myself with”. My life at times has been centered around me and God allowed me to bless myself. However, it comes at a cost. I desire God's blessing, but I come up wanting because I have not cultivated the relationship. I am caught up in what is seen and often forget the unseen. My faith takes a back seat to the natural and the Spirit begins to fade. It all happens gradually and then I realize just how distant I am from the "priority" in my life.

Lord, help me find myself seeking you first. Let me be busy about doing what it takes to be in your presence.

How often do you find yourself consumed by the busyness of your life? What can you do to make your relationship with God look different?
