WHAT WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO PAY

“Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.” Philippians 3:8


My perception is always filtered through my situation. It amazes me that I have to revisit areas that I thought were dealt with. Sometimes the enemy pounces on me without warning. I find that it is easier to deal with those attacks compared to the slow, methodical falling backwards into old paths and old habits. The creeping type of attack does more damage in my life than the straight on assault. The "slow fade" generally comes when I've achieved a certain comfort level and think things are under control. I need to be prepared to pay the cost it requires to be in the position to be near the heart of Christ. If I choose to go to a sporting event, there are several levels I can choose to sit in. I can choose the cheap seats that keep me far away from the event I came to see, but I really can't get close enough to feel the intensity of the game. I can choose to pay a higher price and move into the second level, getting a clear view of the players and feeling the intensity of the crowd pressing in. I could pay an even higher price and sit behind the players. I can hear their conversations, the plan they need to execute, the encouragement from each of the teammates, and at times their frustrations. The higher the price I choose to pay the closer to the action I get. The ultimate price would be to put in the effort to actually play in the game myself. My walk with Christ isn't much different. I will only enjoy the journey to the level that I have been willing to pay for.
